The opportunity 

Due to continued demand for our Systems Engineering & Integration skills across industries, we are growing in Adelaide and are now looking for talented people from a variety of backgrounds to apply for a role of Technical Director (Systems Engineering & Integration) to grow and lead our emerging South Australia team.

 

Our vision is for a strong Systems Engineering & Integration Team based in Adelaide, specialising in Defence and operating as part of a national team, that deliver proven Systems Engineering methodologies tailored to our clients. This team comprises of enthusiastic engineers who can bring real world experience to the table, and will be led by a Technical Director with a wide range of skills and experience across the engineering lifecycle and leading teams.

 

The role is diverse. Your project delivery activities will vary project to project, but you can expect to be performing tailored Systems Integration duties across a range of clients. Your role will include team leadership duties, business development activities, bidding work as well as networking and representing the brand. This may include:

 

  • Lead and represent South Australia on the national Systems Engineering & Integration Leadership Team.
  • Line management duties for a team of Systems Engineers, including personal development and administration.
  • Pursuing business development opportunities and building a network of contacts across the industries.
  • Mentoring and coaching junior engineers, including delivery of internal training.
  • Project planning, workload forecasting and utilisation management.
  • Develop Systems Integration strategies, plans and roadmaps for business and project needs.
  • Contribute to the national Systems Engineering capability growth strategy.
  • Development of capability statements, marketing collateral, conference presentations and standardised processes and ways of working.
  • Provide expert advice in Systems Engineering, Systems Assurance, Systems Integration and Operational Integration to clients.
  • Delivery of Systems Engineering/Integration/Assurance work on complex projects.
  • Provide technical governance and oversite as required for different projects that the SE&I Team are involved in.
  • Grow and represent the Mott MacDonald SE&I brand internally and externally, including online, at conferences, and seminars.

 

About You

  • An inclusive leadership style
  • Bachelor's Degree or higher in Engineering/Science - Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, Electronics, Software, Computer Science and Mechanical are well regarded.
  • Demonstrable experience of both leading and doing systems engineering activities across the lifecycle on complex system or infrastructure projects.
  • Experience of managing teams, both in terms of organisational and on project delivery teams.
  • Technical knowledge of holistic systems engineering, including, requirements, architecture, design, verification & validation and acceptance.
  • Technical knowledge of safety assurance, including hazard identification, risk assessment, risk mitigation, assurance cases, Goal Structuring Notation, and writing SFAIRP arguments.
  • Technical knowledge of operational integration, including operational concept development, transformation, procedure development, training development, operational trials and operational acceptance.
  • Experience in Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) is highly desirable.
  • Experience planning and forecasting projects, workload and utilisation; business development and managing bids.
  • Ability to facilitate workshops and focus groups with stakeholders at different levels.
  • Understanding the of transversal disciplines such as Human Factors, Reliability, Availability & Maintainability (RAM) or security are desirable.
  • Experience on Defence and Nuclear Project experience (N-SQEP) highly desirable
  • Australian Citizen with a NV1 Clearance, or be eligible to apply for one.
